Echoing Strike Warlock — D2R Cheat Sheet

Key Mechanics

Echoing Strike throws weapon echoes (up to 5 with Mirrored Blades) that travel outward and return, hitting enemies twice per pass. “By FAR the strongest” Warlock build per Maxroll.

  • Cast speed = FCR (not IAS!) — 125% FCR breakpoint is the endgame target
  • Cursor distance controls blade spread — close = wide AoE, far = tight “shotgun” on single target
  • Shotgun technique — aim cursor far past the boss so all 5 echoes converge on it, hitting outgoing + return = 10 hits per cast
  • No Next Hit Delay — projectiles can all hit same target simultaneously
  • Doesn’t consume weapon durability — always use ethereal bases for max damage!
  • Levitation Mastery — enables 2H weapon + offhand combo (unique Warlock mechanic)
  • Damage type: Physical + Magic — no monster is immune to both, so no immunity problems

Merc Survival Tips

  • Drag healing potions onto merc portrait, or Shift+1/2/3/4
  • Stack Thawing Potions on merc before cold areas (+50 cold res each, stacks duration)
  • Antidote Potions stack poison res the same way

Maxed (20 points, in order)

  1. Echoing Strike — 20 (main attack, throws weapon echoes)
  2. Mirrored Blades — 20 (synergy, increases echoes to 5)
  3. Blade Warp — 20 (synergy + teleport before Enigma)
  4. Hex: Bane — 20 (synergy, AoE enabler — Maxroll endgame)
  5. Consume — remaining points (damage buff from consuming summons, ~16 points endgame)

Budget variant: Levitation Mastery 20 instead of Hex: Bane (Icy Veins recommendation)

1 Point

  • Levitation Mastery — enables 2H weapon + offhand combo. 1 point is enough for endgame variant
  • Cleave / Psychic Ward / Eldritch Blast — prerequisites
  • Sigil: Lethargy — slow enemies, reduce physical damage resistance (utility on elite packs)

Bind Demon (Critical Mechanic)

Farm Hephasto the Armorer in Hell River of Flame:

  • He spawns with random Aura Enchanted — want Fanaticism (orange fire-like aura)
  • Ideal: Cursed (Amplify Damage proc) + Fanaticism affixes
  • Fanaticism = massive damage multiplier for Echoing Strike
  • Amplify Damage breaks physical immunities and doubles your damage
  • Fixed spawn makes him farmable — may take many runs for perfect combo
  • Once bound, persists between games and difficulties
  • Use Engorge on nearby corpses to heal low-health bound demon

  • Strength — enough for gear (~156 for Monarch, ~177 endgame with heavy armor)
  • Dexterity — minimal (enough for gear only)

Combat

  • Pack clearing: cursor close to character → wide Echoing Strike spread, one-shots most packs
  • Bosses/corridors: aim cursor far past target → “shotgun” all 5 echoes converge = double hits per blade
  • Travel: Blade Warp phases through walls/doors; Teleport with Enigma
  • Control: Sigil: Lethargy on elite packs (slow + reduce phys damage resistance)
  • Demon healing: Engorge on nearby corpses to instantly heal low-HP Bound Demon

Advanced Tips

  • Baal: position Bound Demon between you and Baal to tank Chilling Armor missiles
  • Practice close vs far cursor placement — difference between 2-second and 5-second pack clears
  • Physical damage bypasses most immunities — Amp Damage from bound Hephasto breaks the rest
